The contest for Select Board resulted in a tie. After consultation with the NH Secretary of State’s office, the Town Moderator and Town Clerk applied the following applicable NH statute to determine the winner of the Select Board contest.
669:36 Tie Vote. – In case of a tie vote at any town election, except as provided for unofficial ballots in RSA 669:60, the winner shall be determined by lot by the town clerk in the presence of the candidates who are tied if, upon notice from him, they elect to be present.
Two colored coins were used as the tie breaking process with each candidate assigned a color.
Blue coin – John Dunklee
White coin – Richard James
At 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in the presence of both candidates and other witnesses, the coin chosen at random by the Town Clerk was white.
Richard James was declared winner of the Select Board contest.
